Carlin McCarthy is a multi-hyphenate in broadcast, digital video and film production with experience as a producer, production coordinator, 1st AD and script supervisor. She currently works as a Segment Producer at NBC News’ Top Story with Tom Llamas where she researches, edits and produces live segments and packages for air.

Carlin previously worked as an associate producer with ABC News’ World News Tonight with David Muir where she was responsible for producing and editing stories for the #1 network news program in the country. McCarthy also previously worked in BuzzFeed’s production department where she assisted with production logistics for the company’s flagship properties including Tasty, Nifty and As/Is and worked on-set as camera operator, grip, gaffer and production sound for hallmark productions such as Worth It, The Try Guys and Behind Tasty

Carlin’s photography has appeared in Chaotic Merge magazine, Pile Press, Kindergarten Mag and half empty magazine’s inaugural issue among others. She also has experience as a 1st AD. Most recently, she was the 1st AD on the short films "Engaged", which premiered at OutFest Fusion in Los Angeles, and "2 Weeks" and script supervisor on the Richmond City Media short film "The Nothing". 

She also is an instructor with the Broadcast/Video program at the prestigious Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute where she has been instrumental in implementing the infrastructure for the institute’s digital production curriculum. She is also responsible for conducting lectures to over 80 students each summer, building workshops and managing staff members.
